Eve…. the First Affiliate Marketer?

EVE…. THE FIRST AFFILIATE MARKETER?

Yes! Believe it or not but Eve was the first affiliate marketer. She marketed the ‘FORBIDDEN APPLE’ so well that poor Adam just couldn’t resist eating it. The rest is history.

Since then, down the ages, man has been willingly or unwittingly involved in affiliate marketing. Even today, we practice affiliate marketing in so many ways without realizing it. You visit a new restaurant, see a new movie or read a new book.

You are so impressed with it that you spread the word amongst your friends and family. Isn’t that free affiliate marketing in the true sense of the word?

Affiliate marketing is now the most paying form of advertising on the internet. You advertise a product produced by someone you never met, sell it to someone you’ll, in all probability, never meet and get paid (it is formally called a commission) by someone you never knew and probably never will. Gee, you don’t even get to know which part of the globe the buyer and seller live and vice versa! Marvelous, isn’t it?

YES AND NO!

Marvelous it is because

1) You don’t have to stock up products and inventories,

2) You don’t have to answer any queries from your customers (its all handled by the seller),

3) All complaints are handled by the seller

4) It’s a very simple system to follow,

5) You get paid without much effort.

Marvelous it isn’t because

1) How do you trust someone you don’t know?

2) How do your customers trust you (someone they’ve never met)?

3) How do you select a product that you know will sell?

4) What recourse do you have if you don’t get paid?

All commercial transactions are built on trust.

Adam had faith in Eve since, in those days, TRUST was implicit.

Today, when you are working on the internet that possibility is remote.

At one time, you could trust the person/s you were dealing with. But, today, marketing has turned nasty.

Just look at the ads you see on TV. How many of them are genuine in their claims?

The same goes for internet marketing.

So, what does one do? Avoid it like the plague or cross your fingers and hope for the best? The safest way is to study the affiliate market thoroughly before deciding.

1) Is it a genuine product with tangible benefits to the customer?

2) Is this the only product or does the seller have many more that are selling well?

3) Are there any complaints about the product and if so, does he compensate the customer promptly?

4) Does he pay his affiliates regularly?

THE BOTTOM LINE IS ‘TRUST YOURSELF NOT TO GO WRONG’!
