Position yourself in the Driver's Seat of Network Marketing

If you are suffering from a stalled home-based business in network marketing, you probably know what it feels like to practically beg people to try your product or service. There's nothing worse than attempting to meet a goal by resorting to calling up anyone you can think of to get a sale. The reason this never works well is because people will not respond to the desperation that comes across in your attitude.

When you put yourself in a position of strength, you will no longer need to resort to persuasion as a sales tactic. You have the power to give people what they want, need or desire as well as keep them from getting it. When you are in a position of strength, it comes across in your attitude and people will respond to it. Confidence and self-assurance lets people know the value of what you offer and helps position you as a leader.

Owning your own home-based business is like driving a car. If you are in the driver's seat, you are in charge. People will listen to you. Sitting in the back seat means you are just along for the ride and are unwilling to take responsibility for where you are going. You are letting other people take you to your destination. If you want to be successful and gain strength as a leader, you need to move to the driver's seat.

The first way you can begin to move to a position of strength is get to know your prospect. What struggles do they face every day and how can you improve their situation? The better you know your target audience, the better you can help them. The better you can help them, the more your business will grow. When you focus more on helping people than you do about how big your check is, the days of begging people for business will be long gone.

Instead of asking yourself who you can convince, begin asking yourself who is qualified to work with you. You are offering them a chance to take charge of their future, to develop self-confidence, and to become free for once in their lives. Leaders do not beg people for the chance to help them with these things. Put the indecision in the hands of your prospect. If they are serious, they will do what it takes to contact you instead of the other way around.

There is a reason why 10% of all millionaires in the past 10 years made their money with network marketing while at the same time there is a 95% drop-out rate in the industry. Those who survive and become a success in this industry position themselves as leaders by learning proper marketing techniques. They realize that in order to build a business, they can not sit in the back seat and follow someone else's plan. Most people quit before they are able to grasp this concept.

Someone else's plan always involves signing up for the latest club or group that your company offers. Do yourself a favor and put your dollars where they will do you some good. This will require a great deal of courage on your part to break from the mold and seek proper marketing education, but it is well worth it. Not only will it put you on the right track as far as education, but you will begin to develop the mindset of a leader in the process.

Once you feel like a leader, the next step is to improve other people's lives by mentoring them. This does not mean convincing them to spend lots of money on inventory, or attending every training seminar your company offers. It means showing them what you did without having to spend their money and waste their time. Focus more on solving their problems within their means and show them you care more about their success than you do about growing your own bank account.

You have more at stake than the person you are mentoring. You are taking the responsibility to develop their business and work along side of them until they can do it. This is what leadership is all about. Their success is your success. They did not sign up into business with anyone else but you, and if you follow someone elses' plan that is not working for you, the person you are mentoring will not become successful either.

The sooner you put yourself in the driver's seat, the sooner you will begin to see success in your network marketing business. Once I changed to this way of thinking, my profits tripled after about a year. There is no get rich quick opportunity in network marketing. Networking requires time, patience, dedication and a willingness to become a leader. And you don't need to spend a lot of money in the process.
